The REACH Center in collaboration with the Woodring School of Education piloted, Higher Ed REACH, this past February on the campus of Western Washington University

Jessie Myles and Patricia McDonald led more than 40 faculty and staff members through 2 days of infusing the REACH basic principles in their personal lives and professional work. Individually and collaboratively they created action plans to implement strategies for systemic, organizational change with WWU students.

The Gary Howard Social Justice Educator Award, named after the founder of the REACH Center, recognizes an outstanding individual and their lifetime of work in education, dedication to achieving the vision that all students matter. Richard Gomez is honored for his many years of persistent and courageous service advocating for a more just and equitable educational system for all students in the state of Utah.

We’ve moved! The REACH Center has officially relocated its office to Western Washington University’s Center for Education, Equity, and Diversity (CEED) in Bellingham, WA. Dr. Kristen French, CEED director, serves as the site manager

Nooksack School District and the REACH Center presented at the annual LearningForward (formerly National Staff Development Council) Conference in Atlanta, GA. Nooksack High principal Matt Galley, librarian Debbie Frey-Anderson, along with REACH Center trainers Sue Tripp and Kristen French shared the achievement gains made at Nooksack High and the impact of the cultural competence work in their district.
